Well, Tropic Thunder finally opened last night and I couldn't wait to see it. After seeing it, though, I can honestly say it wasn't what I expected. Still a very funny movie, but it didn't develop the characters in the direction that I had anticipated. A little vague, huh? Well, I don't want to influence any expectations anyone else may have before they go see it, so I will just say that I'm glad I went to see it, but I doubt that I would buy it on DVD. Robert Downey, Jr. is as great as ever and Tom Cruise has an unexpectedly funny role that you just have to see to appreciate. I ran into Terry Crews at the theater as I was going in with my popcorn (free popcorn Wednesdays at the AMC). He ended up sitting right behind me and he DEFINITELY enjoyed the movie. Afterwards he hung out in the lobby and talked to approaching fans and posed for some pictures. He was really approachable and friendly and seemed to really enjoy interacting with everyone who came up to him. He may still be an 'Oh...that guy!' actor, but he's not afraid to play the fool and that just makes him a funny guy worthy of some props.
